Super Seed + Cacao Protein Balls

These wholesome super seed + cacao protein balls made with a variety of nourishing seeds will provide you with a good dose of protein, beneficial unsaturated fats and dietary fibre, along with minerals zinc, magnesium and calcium. These balls make a delicious protein-rich snack, or lunch box treat for your kids, that will help satisfy any chocolate craving.

Super Seed + Cacao Protein Balls


12 Medjool dates (deseeded) – soak for 10 minutes in some warm water
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup pepitas
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 tablespoon tahini
2 tablespoon raw honey or pure maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 heaped Tbsp raw cacao powder or Bodhi Hot ChocolaTEA
1 cup desiccated coconut


Method:

  1. Add sunflower seeds, pepitas, flaxseeds, desiccated coconut, coconut oil, tahini and honey to your food processor and blend until you have a finer consistency. Add drained medjool dates and process until well combined. You can add a little of the date water if too dry.
  2. Roll into medium sized balls (around heap tablespoon of mixture) and then roll in some coconut. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes, then enjoy. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for a week.

Makes 14 balls.
