What’s the difference between organic and certified organic teas?

Unfortunately the term 'organic' is not currently regulated under Australian law which means that any company or product can claim to be organic. This is why it is so important to always look for the 'certified organic' logo (eg. the ACO bud logo) on products to ensure the organic integrity of your product.

When people choose to buy products with a certified organic logo like the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) bud logo they are protected by consumer laws. ACO is the most respected, strictest and most thorough food regulatory program here in Australia and internationally and Bodhi Organic Tea conforms to their rigorous standards and policies.

ACO routinely and randomly audit and test companies and products that use the bud logo. All ingredients whether they are sourced locally or imported must comply with the strict requirements of the Australian Certified Organic Standard.

What teas contain caffeine?

All tea varieties - white, green, oolong and black - which come from the same plant, camellia sinensis contain caffeine in varying amounts. White tea which undergoes the least amount of processing contains the least amount of caffeine. Green tea contains around 20 mg of caffeine per cup, which is a lot lower than a cup of brewed coffee having between 100-300mg of caffeine per cup, and less than black tea containing 45 mg.

For those who are sensitive to caffeine try steeping your tea twice. A majority of the caffeine from your tea can be removed by pouring hot water over the leaves, and then leaving it for 30 seconds. Caffeine in tea is released during the first 30 seconds of steeping. Pour out the tea and then re-steep your tea with more hot water using the same leaves.

Why does my tea look slightly different from the last time I ordered this blend?

Sometimes the cut size of the herbs and spices used in our blends can vary slightly from time to time due to worldwide shortages from natural disasters. Smaller cuts will make the tea brew quicker and darker and it may make the volume of the tea look less than usual, although it will always weigh the same amount as before. We will always use the exact same formula.

We recommend you avoid PuriTEA which is a detoxing tea during pregnancy and breastfeeding as it can increase the elimination of toxins from the body.
